Canaiolo IGT Toscana 2022

Traditionally blended with Sangiovese in order to balance robust tannin and acidity, Canaiolo is prized for its floral aromatics and approachable palate, making for an approachable and distinctive wine on its own.

Varietals: 100% Canaiolo

Vinification: Spontaneously fermented and aged in concrete tanks.

Vintage Notes: On the nose, a combination of laundry drying in the sun and fresh blackberries picked and eaten straight from the brambles. Fruity, bright, and clean, it does not arrive with quite as much complexity as le Tolfe’s other red wines, but this is certainly not negative. The tannins, though present and firm, are not demanding, and bright acidity –  combined with notes of ripe blackberry and raspberry –  further drives this sensation of lift. A note of fennel blossom places the drinker immediately amongst the le Tolfe vines, where, between rows, the herb grows prolifically.
